Since childhood I love wood apple . wood apple or bael fruit is very healthy and carries many health benefit. Bael tree is available almost in every houses in India. I remember when I was in school , we owned a  bael tree , which provides many bael fruits in summer. At afternoon my grandma used to make panna. And that time bael panna was the important part of our daily family diet.



Later on whenever my mum gets wood apple from market, she makes puree out of it and freeze it for a week. Usually we had panna with sugar and pepper powder.  That was very refreshing beverage I ever had. Bael panna can be consumed with curd or milk.  Though some liked it with mashed banana and jaggery.



Apart from panna, bael can be consumed in many ways. I made wood apple ice-cream few days back , made wood apple punch by shaking bael pulp with vanilla ice-cream , roasted cumin powder and sugar . After take a sip , my father in law apopreciate a lot. Here is another cool beverage bael margarita, a desi version to refresh yourself.

  • Bael fruit (wood apple) pulp –  1 cup
  • Orange juice – ½ cup
  •  Lemon – 2 no
  • Chat masala 1/4th tsp
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Few ice cubes for garnishing





Combine bael pulp , lemon juice, orange juice chat masala in a shaker.

Shake well and pour into serving glass.

Add few ice cubes and lemon wedges. Serve immediately.
