I rarely have fruits in raw form. Whenever I get fruits I try my best to give a new form. I was really happy when I receive a box of plum from a friend. Because getting fresh plums in Jeypore, which is a rural area, is a very big thing.

 

 

In the month of June a festival called Savitri Brat is celebrated in which all types of fruits are required  to be offered to Goddess , only on this occasion plum is available here.

 

 

This year I made so many dishes using fresh plum, like plum cake, dimpled plum cake and here is my turn to plum chutney. Yet to come two more recipes, I have ½ boxes of plum left with me.

 

 

It was a sunny day . Haven’t seen sun from last 2 weeks. In this cold weather my fil told me to make batata vada, I made this sweet and spicy Plum chutney to give a accompaniment to the vada.Because of the cloudy days the pics are not so good. But I know  this chutney will surely tantalize the taste buds.

Plum chutney is quick and simple to make and goes perfect with anything. Plum has a nature to be cooked faster than any other fruit. Let’s not waste time, lets learn how to make sweet spicy plum chutney.

Instructions
  1. Cut the plums and discard the seeds. In a pan heat ½ tsp of oil , when oil is hot , sauté finely chopped garlic for few seconds.
  2. Add plums and mix for a second.
  3. Pour water along with dry chillies.
  4. When water boils , lower the flame and cover the pan with a lid .
  5. Cook till the plums are cooked completely and became mussy.
  6. switch off the flame and let it be cool.
  7. Transfer it to a blender and make a fine puree.
  8. Again boil the puree by stirring continuously .
  9. Boil the puree for 5 minutes till it turn into a semi thick chutney.
  10. Add rest of the ingredients, cook for 2-3 minutes more.switch off the flame.
  11. Cool it and enjoy.
Recipe Notes

  • Add sugar according to the sweetness of the plum.
  • Add chillies according to your tolarance.
