  1. Wash and clean plums , pat dry them.
  2. Remove their pits, Chop into small pieces.
  3. In a heavy bottom sauce pan combine chopped plums, ginger and sugar.
  4. Keep the flame high for 3-4 minutes, then lower the flame.
  5. Cook for 10 minutes, then mash the plums with a potato masher.
  6. You will get lot of foam forming on the jam, remove them with a metal spoon.
  7. Cook for 5 minutes more by stirring occasionally.
  8. Otherwise jam may stick to the bottom of the pan, which may lead you a tasteless jam.
  9. Cook till the mixture thickens , it may take 5-7 minutes more.
  10. When the jam reaches in desired consistancy and cling to the spoon, falling up in clums , squeeze out the lemon juice.
  11. Give a nice mix & switch off the flame.
  12. Now spoon the jam in a clean sterilized bottle leaving about a 1/2″ headspace.
  13. your homemade plum jam is ready.

Recipe Notes
  • If you dont want to add ginger to the jam , you may skip adding it.
  • Add less sugar (about 1 cup) if your plums are sweet.
  • Refregerate the jam and use within one month.
  • If you wish you can remove the peels of the plum with a fork while cooking.
