Plum & Ginger jam

For me homemade Jams are life saver. Both my hubby and kid  love homemade jams. Incase  you are busy and not in a mood to cook anything then bread and a spoon of jam works like a magic. isn’t it ?

I love to make Jams at home. making  jams are easy to make . only you need three ingredients that is fresh fruit pulp, sugar and lemon juice. I store jams only for a week, actually within a week my baby finish them .She loves to have jam milkshake too.

This is my last recipe using fresh plum. I am finishing my box of wonderful red plums by making a jam. plums are available in red, yellow, purple, blue & black in colour. i used red plums for making jam. it is a good idea to choose rich deep colour plums for making jam. choose firm plums  over ripe plums, as they will be sticky and will be easy to split and you may not get a tasty jam.

  10. When the jam reaches in desired consistancy and cling to the spoon, falling up in clums , squeeze out the lemon juice.
  11. Give a nice mix & switch off the flame.
  12. Now spoon the jam in a clean sterilized bottle leaving about a 1/2" headspace.
  13. your homemade plum jam is ready.
  14. enjoy .
Recipe Notes
  • If you dont want to add ginger to the jam , you may skip adding it.
  • Add less sugar (about 1 cup) if your plums are sweet.
  • Refregerate the jam and use within one month.
  • If you wish you can remove the peels of the plum with a fork while cooking.

Cooking is my passion.i love to play with myriad tastes of spices . I belong to a odiya family by birth but marriade to a bengoli person.the crash of cultures between two families induced me to cook innovatively so as to make everyone happy.
