Icecream is the universal favorite dessert. There is nothing like the cold, creamy tastes in hot days of summer. Is there anything more essential to summer than homemade ice cream ? In summer ice-cream is the perfect cool treat to help you beat the heat . It’s our family’s favorite summer treat and why not be ?? It has refreshing elements and it’s the perfect ,cool treat during the hot days .
Ice cream is the sweetened frozen dessert made using dairy product like milk, cream or milk powder, combined with fruit pulp, chocolates etc. Nowadays non dairy ice creams are also available in markets, those are equally yummy and delish..
Making ice creams at home gives you a chance to use up the favorite fruits that are so abundant this time of years. Here I used wood apple which is also known as monkey fruit. In Hindi it’s called Bael . Bael or wood apples are widely cultivated & eaten in India.
The ripe fruit of bael is very delicious .More than the taste, this fruit is mostly used for health benefits . I bet you must be familiar with this fruit . I remember we had a bael tree in our garden, we get many bael fruits and my grandmother used to make panna out of it and serve to all my friends.
Many dishes can be prepared using bael fruit like juice, panna , punch, chutney etc. Then why not to make ice-cream and it only takes few minutes to prepare, even you need only 4 ingredients to prepare this healthy delicious ice cream at home.
Preparing homemade ice creams are also hygienic. You don’t need to bought from grocery store, when the ice creams can simple be prepared at home. only you need to blend the ingredients and freeze it for few hours.
It is easy to express your creativity through these. Homemade ice-cream tastes better than dozen of different fruit ice creams available in market. Ice-cream is favorite treat around every house, usually kids love it the most.
Here I am explaining how to take out wood apple pulp :: crack the bael, scoop the pulp and soak in water. The water should be just enough to soak. Allow to soak for an hour. Once the pulp is soft , use your hands to further mash it. Strain the pulp, press the juice to extract all the juices from the fiber, finally discard the fiber and use the pulp.
Bael(wood apple) pulp – 1 cup
Heavy whipping cream – ¾ th cup
Honey – 6 tbsp
Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
Condensed milk – ½ cup
METHOD OF PREPARATION ::
Chill the beater and a bowl or your metal bowl in refrigerator for 20 minutes.
After resting time is over, take out the beater and bowl from the refrigerator.
In that chilled bowl take heavy cream and beat on high speed till its becomes soft, fluffy & light or until peaks are formed.
Add rest of the ingredients and fold it , until everything gets combined well. Do not mix vigorously.
And do not whip as the cream may lose its airiness and become dense.
Pour this mixture into a freeze safe , air tight container, level the ice-cream and cover it with a tight lid , deep freeze it for 8-10 hours or ice cream gets set well.
Its ready to enjoy now, scoop , serve and enjoy !!!
Its tastes great with caramel sauce, you can drizzle on top and serve.
- Also chill the heavy cream before beating.
- The whipping cream I m using is already sweet, I ve taken honey according to that, you may increase or decrease the quantity of Honey.
- Few drops of food colour can be added at the time of beating cream, to get store brought kind of colour.
