Colours are spread out by the people over each other. This festival falls in the month of Fagun indicating the beginning of the spring season .

Holi is celebrated by splashing up colours on  friends & family. For Hindus this festival is the most happiest festival among all. As the festival falls in the spring season , the beauty of nature makes this festival more auspicious and colourful. This festival is also considered as  the festival of love and compassion.

The colour brings all the people together and brings the feeling of love and closeness. That’s why this is also known as the festival of love.

Other than colour another attractions of Holi are Thandai , Gujjiya , matri with various traditional sweets and namkeens. Usually Thandai is the coolant drink served during playing with Colours, it prevents people to be exhausted.  Thandai is a refreshing , healthful drink which gives more energy to people when they feel tired throwing colour on each other. A glass of thandai gives instant energy and sets the mood for playing.

Instructions
  1. Before proceeding, make sure that Butter should be at room temperature, not in melted form.
  2. preheat the oven at 180c for 10 minutes.
  3. Cream butter and icing sugar together till smooth and creamy.
  4. Add thandai powder with rose water, beat till both combine well.
  5. Now add flour and mix with hands.
  6. Just mix and make a soft dough, don’t knead too much.
  7. Roll the dough into ½” thick on lightly floured surface and cut using a cookie cutter.
  8. You may use the cap of a bottle if you don’t have cookie cutter.
  9. Else you can shape them using your palm.
  10. Place them on a parchment paper.
  11. Bake at 180c for 15-16 minutes.
  12. Keep checking the cookies , they should seem slightly golden in colour.
  13. Take out and cool them completely.
  14. Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
Recipe Notes
  • Instead of rose water you can add few drops of rose essence.
