I must say beetroot halwa is the tastiest, healthiest halwa among all the halwas. Making the halwa is also very simple and you needn’t search its ingredients while making it. Its dark pink colour is very attractive and can invite non beetroot lovers towards it.

And the best part is after making halwa you will not get the beetroot-y taste . Beetroot halwa  smells really nice and its pleasant aroma can attract kids  also. In your new year party it will definitely be a show stopper. Here are recipe of carrot halwa, sooji pineapple halwa and chow chow halwa which are equally yummy and delicious.

Instructions
  1. Peel the beetroots and grate them using a grater.
  2. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan/ wok.
  3. Add grated beetroot and start stirring in medium low flame.
  4. It will shrink and gradually leave the raw smell of beetroot.
  5. Stir continuously till the beetroot turns soft & all the water evaporate.
  6. Add milk and let it boil.
  7. I didn’t cover to get a nice dark pink colour. You can cover it , it will allow the beetroot to get cooked faster.
  8. It may take 10-12 minutes to get cooked completely.
  9. Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts in between, mix well.
  10. Add khoya or mawa while the beetroot are almost cooked, mix it for some time.
  11. When milk is absorbed by the beetroot completely , pour sugar , mix well.
  12. The halwa will again be runny after adding sugar so we need to stir and cook till the sugar syrup thickens.
  13. Add another tsp of ghee at this step, but this is optional.
  14. Stir continuously else the halwa will stick to the bottom.
  15. Halwa will be thick and become a mass and leave the sides of the pan.
  16. Remove the halwa and garnish with finely chopped dry fruits.
  17. The yummy and easy beetroot halwa is ready to be served.
Recipe Notes
  • This Halwa can be prepared without adding mawa .
