It is also called Mirch ka pakoda, stuffed pepper, bhareli mirch bhaji .Mich bhaji, is a deep fried snack item.
Long green chillies are deep fried coated with besan batter with some stuffing inside .it is really a tasty, delicious recipe,which can be prepared in many ways.
It is prepared in different parts of our country and the tastes vary from state to state.
Normally bhawnagari mirch is used to prepare this recipe but the stuffing varies. but my chillies are extra long and thick, having less seeds within it.
Some used grated coconut, Aamchoor powder (dry mango powder),Dhania powder (coriander powder),crushed peanut,lemon juice and salt.
Some use mashed potato stuffing and some use cheese filling. I ve used winter vegetables to make these a healthy version.
Chilies – 10 to 12 no
Gram flour – 1 cup
Rice flour – 1 tbsp
Turmeric – 1/4th tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
Baking powder – 2 pinches
Ajwain – ½ tsp
Sugar – 1/4th tsp
Oil- for deep frying
For stuffing ::
Finely chopped Cauliflower – ½ cup
Shredded Carrot – 1/4t cup
Finely chopped spring onion – 4 tbsp
Finely chopped capsicum – 4 tbsp
Finely chopped French beans- 4 tbsp
Chicken masala – 1 tsp
Onion – 1 small
Garlic – 3 flakes
Chili powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala- ½ tsp
Salt – to taste
METHOD OF PREPARATION ::
First of all,we need to prepare the stuffing.
Finely Chop the onion and garlic.
Heat 2 tbsp of oil, add finely chopped garlic and onion. sauté for a while & add all the vegetables with salt.
Fry for a minute and cover it with a lid.
Cook till they are half done.
Add chilli powder, chicken masala and garam masala and mix it well.
You too can add your favorite sauce like schezuan sauce to make it more delicious.
Remove from heat and cool it.
In a bowl sieve besan (gram flour), turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder baking powder all together.
Add rice flour ,ajwain ,salt and sugar.
Add water to make a thick batter. Keep the batter for 10 minutes.
Now prepare the chillies.
Wash and deseed the chillies and wash it again.
Heat oil in a big wok.
Fill the chillies with prepared stuffing and keep aside.
Add a tsp of warm oil with the batter and mix it.
When oil is hot enough, dip the stuffed chillies into the prepared batter and deep fry the chillies till they becomes golden in colour.
Serve these deep fried snack with imly chutney or Date tamarind chutney.
