Mango Lassi / Aam ki Lassi

 

India is a land of varying cultures which is depicted in its numerous festivals . There are festivals for each season ,that’s why India is known as land of festivals.

This is the time for Navratri.It is one of the largest Hindu festivals.The festival of Navratri celebrated for nine days. This Navratri is celebrated in various parts of the country with different rituals but however the central idea remains the same. Navratri not only brings people together but it also symbolizes the national unity and integrity.

 

 

So this week we are sharing the recipes which can be taken during the fasting days. Navratri is going on so this is the perfect time to have some cool & refreshing beverages.Because cool beverages help to reduce body temperature during hot summer days.

 

 

Creamy, sweet , rich mango lassi is almost like a milkshake , easy and quick to prepare, is not only a perfect cooling beverage for fasting days but also a perfect breakfast shake. A cooling way to start your day.

Lassi is a popular traditional yogurt based drink, which is prepared with aamras, yogurt ,milk sugar & dash of cardamom. Aam ki lassi is much delicious because of the flavor of mangoes.Luscious aam lassi is mostly made during the summer, because of the availability of fresh mangoes. It is great for cooling the tongue as well as mood.

 

 

Aam ki lassi tastes best because of generous amount of mango pulp. If the mangoes are not sweet then increase the amount of sugar or you may add honey to it.In my area it’s the first mango available for these season. So mango was not so sweet, and it didn’t give a good colour to the Lassi. But taste wise the Lassi was awesome. Mango Lassi tastes best when it is served chill.I didn’t add ice cubes so don’t forget to chill the mango pieces and curd before starting.

INGREDIENTS ::

Chopped mango pieces – 1 &1/2 cup

Yogurt – 1 & ½ cup

milk – 1 cup

sugar – ½ cup

cardamom – 5 no

METHOD OF PREPARATION ::

Put the mango pieces with sugar and cardamom pod into a mixer and puree it.

Keep the puree in a bowl.

Again blend curd/ yogurt and milk for few  seconds.

Add prepared mango puree to the blended curd and blend it again till it turns creamy and smooth.

Pour the Lassi in individual glasses and serve immediately.

 

TIPS :

Adjust the sweetness according to the sweetness of the mangoes.

Chill everything before preparing Lassi.

Also adjust the quantity of milk on how much thick Lassi you want.
