In this navratri ,Making the desserts little healthy, i am presenting healthy and easy malpuas.
yes ,malpuas can also be healthy..specially when it’s made from whole wheat and oat.
Malpuas are the most delicious and scrumptious sweet dish and it can be made in many ways.
There are so many verities of malpuas available in Indian market like mawa malpua,apple malpua,paneer malpuas,malpuas are flovered with cardamom and ani seeds (sounf).
Normally malpuas are made out of all purpose flour,semolina and milk and served with rabri (thickened milk with sugar).
- Whole wheat flour- 1 cup
- Rolled oat – ½ cup
- Semolina – 1/4th cup + 1tbsp
- Ripe bananas-2 small
- Milk powder – 4-5 tbsp
- Milk – 1 ½ cup or little more
- Sounf – 1 tbsp
- Cardamom – 2 no
- Baking soda – 2 pinches
- Oil – for deep frying
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Water – 1cup
- Cardamoms- 2 no
METHOD OF PREPARATION ::
Powder the oat and keep aside.
Powder the cardamom too.
In a bowl add whole wheat flour, powdered oat, semolina, milk powder,cardamom powder and sounf.
I have used ½ tbsp of sounf powder and ½ tbsp of whole sounf . But whole sounf can also
be added to the batter.
Now add mashed bananas and 1 & 1/4th cups of milk,make a lumps free batter and rest it for 1-2 hour.
After 2 hour prepare the sugar syrup first.
Add water, sugar and powdered cardamom in a pan and boil it.
after it comes to boiling point ,keep the flame slow and prepare a one string consistency sugar syrup.
And keep it aside.
Heat oil in a wide wok .
Coming back to the batter ,add baking soda and little more milk to bring the batter to photo like consistency.
When oil is hot enough pour ladle full of batter and wait till one side turns golden brown in colour then turn it ,wait till other side turns golden brown .
Take it out of the oil and keep it on absorbent paper.
Repeat with rest of the batter and make round malpuas.
Dip these malpuas into prepared sugar syrup into batches and leave it for 10 minutes.
Take these out of the sugar syrup and enjoy healthy malpuas in this navratri.
